Welcome to the website of team Momentum from Waste. This website is about the Mongolia Charity Rally that we will participate in the summer of 2010. The purpose of the Rally is to collect as much money as possible, driving from London, UK to the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator and handing in the collected money over to charity there. The route will span over 10000km and can be defined by every team individually. Whatever route you take, you will surely encounter fantastic scenery, people, culture, awesome cities, forests, lakes, rivers, mountains, deserts, asphalted roads, dirt tracks, breakdowns but above all, a lot of fun and awesome experiences.
We believe in a sustainable
world, where our energy is coming from renewable sources like sun, water, wind
and biomass like vegetable oil. To make the rally somewhat more challenging we
will not use conventional motorfuels to propel our rallycar but selfmade
biodiesel made from waste vegetable oil (fryerfat and such). Before the fryer fat can be used though,
it has to be treated, because no car runs on pieces of hamburger and french
fries. The reaction that will take care of the
conversion is the transesterification reaction.

When you have read the website and you share our vision of a sustainable future, or if you are fascinated by the idea of two guys driving 17000km in an old car, you might even support us with goods for the Rally or with a contribution for the charities. After all, in the end, everything is being sold and all the raised money will go to charity!!
